Joining TKE: The Process
The path to membership
- The bid
A formal invitation to join, extended based on your personal worth and character. Your introduction to TKE starts when you accept.
- Candidate Education Program
An overview of TKE's history, traditions, practices and beliefs, plus how the Fraternity works internationally and in your chapter. Candidates also complete TKE's online Risk Management Education course.
- Your Big Brother
A chapter member chosen for his experience and dedication. He mentors you through the process, answers your questions, connects you to the Hegemon, and stays your Big Brother for life.
- Initiation
You take the Bond of Tau Kappa Epsilon. It's the start of the fraternal experience and a commitment to your chapter, the Fraternity, your fellow Fraters and yourself.
Levels of Fraternal Achievement
Order of the Founders
Eligible after your first term, for involvement in chapter, campus and community that meets or exceeds the chapter's expectations.
Knights of Classic Lore
For senior members with sustained, exceptional service. Knights pass on their experience to younger members.
Fraternity for Life
Conferred at graduation. After that, the expectation is lifelong involvement as a volunteer and donor.
What's expected of members
- Recruit all year and share the experience with others.
- Invest time in your chapter and the Fraternity.
- Pay dues on time, and give annually as an alumnus.
- Conduct yourself as a gentleman, in person and on social media.
- Take part in college and community activities, in moderation.
- Follow the rules of your chapter and the International Fraternity.
- Become a Life Loyal Teke.
